Garrett Grove's Errors of Possession is a photobook that explores the landscape and inhabitants of the rural Northwest United States. The book offers a nuanced view of the lives of workers and shows how agriculture, industry, and the human pursuit of the American Dream have profoundly transformed the land. The photos were taken in and around small coastal, farming, and logging towns in Oregon and Washington, both before and after the 2016 presidential election.
Garret Grove is an American photographer known for his work exploring the relationship between humans and the landscape, particularly in the American West. His photography is characterized by a contemplative and introspective style, capturing the subtle nuances of the landscape and the impact of human presence. In an interview with Urbanautica, Grove discussed his approach to photography and how his educational background in the humanities and social sciences has influenced his work. He noted that his favorite subjects were English literature, anthropology, and therapeutic recreation, and that these disciplines have shaped his understanding of cultural identity and human interaction with the natural world.
