Poems from the Typewriter Series

Hardcover

Poems from the Typewriter Series

Hardcover
Virtually as new copy. Also suitable as a gift.

Chasers of the Light brings together poems from Tyler Knott Gregson's Typewriter Series. The project began after he encountered a vintage Remington typewriter in an antique shop in Helena, Montana, and spontaneously typed a poem on a page from a damaged book. That immediacy became central to the series: poems composed directly, without planning and without the easy possibility of revision.

The poems focus on love, longing, intimacy, memory and the beauty of ordinary moments. Their original typewritten appearance and the use of found paper make typography and material form part of the poetry itself; the series also includes pieces created through the blackout method.

Words, typewriter and image

Gregson is also a professional photographer, and that visual sensibility is reflected in the presentation of the collection. The poems work both as texts and as objects on the page. The cover photograph is by Gregson himself; the cover was designed by Rita Carroll.

Particular Books edition

The Typewriter Series first developed online and reached a wide audience before appearing in book form. The US edition was published in 2014. This copy is from the British Particular Books edition and first published in Great Britain in 2015.
