De 33 bekroonde boeken van 2014

De catalogus van De Best Verzorgde Boeken is elk jaar zelf een huzarenstukje van boekverzorging. Voor de editie van 2014 kreeg het bureau Haller Brun 'carte blanche'. Het resultaat is een compact maar lijvig object van ruim 600 pagina's dat uiteenvalt in twee delen. Het eerste deel toont de 33 winnaars in kleur, gefotografeerd in hun natuurlijke habitat: de boekenkast van een ontwerper, uitgever of drukker. Het tweede deel is een abstractere, zwart-wit analyse waarbij elk boek volledig wordt ontleed, inclusief miniaturen van álle pagina’s. Deze miniaturen vormen boeiende diagrammen van de bladspiegel en de narratieve structuur van de bekroonde werken.

Conditie & specificaties

Conditie: Goede staat. Het binnenwerk en de binding zijn vrijwel als nieuw. De linnen stofomslag vertoont lichte gebruikssporen en is, zoals vaker bij dit witte materiaal, niet meer volledig smetteloos.
Bijzonderheden: Gebonden softcover met linnen stofomslag en twee leeslinten. Tekst in Nederlands en Engels.

De Best Verzorgde Boeken is een jaarlijkse selectie van 33 uitzonderlijk vormgegeven boeken in Nederland, georganiseerd door de Stichting De Best Verzorgde Boeken. De jury beoordeelt onder meer ontwerp, opdrachtgeverschap en de kwaliteit van druk en bindwerk. Sinds 2016 is er naast een vakjury ook een studentenjury, met deelname van verschillende kunstacademies. De geselecteerde boeken worden gepubliceerd in een catalogus en jaarlijks tentoongesteld, onder andere in het Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.

The 33 Award-Winning Books of 2014

Every year, the catalogue of The Best Dutch Book Designs is a masterpiece of book production in itself. For the 2014 edition, the Amsterdam-based studio Haller Brun was given 'carte blanche'.

The result is a compact yet substantial object of over 600 pages, divided into two distinct sections. The first part presents the 33 winners in full color, photographed in their "natural habitat": the bookshelves of a designer, publisher, or printer. The second part offers a more abstract, black-and-white analysis where each book is completely dissected, including thumbnails of every single page. These miniatures serve as fascinating diagrams of the layout and narrative structure of the awarded works.

Condition & Specifications

Condition: Good condition. The interior and binding are virtually as new. The white linen dust jacket shows light signs of use and, as is common with this material, is no longer perfectly pristine. Details: Bound softcover with a linen dust jacket and two ribbon markers. Text in both Dutch and English.
