Dit zeldzame artist's boek onderzoekt de grenzen tussen fysieke ruimte en verbeelding door middel van een fotografische registratie van een minutieus opgebouwde maquette.

Impossible Calibrations of an Imaginary Sherrie is een conceptueel project waarin kunstenaar Frederik Gruyaert een miniatuurwereld heeft gecreëerd. De maquette toont een donkere kamer (doka) die verbonden is met een kunstenaarsatelier, bewoond door de denkbeeldige figuur "Sherrie". Het boek onderzoekt hoe we proberen grip te krijgen op de realiteit en de constructie van beelden. Door de combinatie van macrofotografie, de tekstuele bijdrage van Alma Mathijsen en het specifieke grafische ontwerp, vervaagt de grens tussen het tastbare object en de fictieve, innerlijke werkelijkheid van de kunstenaar.

Impossible Calibrations of an Imaginary Sherrie is a conceptual project by Belgian artist Frederik Gruyaert. The publication features high-detail photographs of a handmade miniature world, where a darkroom is connected to an artist's studio, inhabited by the imaginary figure "Sherrie." The book examines how we attempt to grasp reality through constructed images and how these efforts remain perpetually incomplete.
